Cascade Locks Elementary School

program:

"UFO's Start to Finally Finished -
a humorous and informative look
at unfinished projects"

by Joyce Giezler

Joyce's life-long love affair with sewing began when she was four years old.
She told her mother she knew why the sewing machine was called a Singer--
because it hummed! One of the greatest joys of quilt-making for Joyce is helping
students recognize their talent and instilling in them a love of quilting.
Her favorite times are when a student, of any age, insists they cannot be
successful. The more skeptical, the better! She hasn't met a student yet
that couldn't be successful given enough different ways to sew the same unit.

Joyce has been teaching quilting for 15 years and designing quilt patterns for 10.
Joyce was honored to be the featured quilter at a show in her adopted hometown
of Hillsboro, Oregon. Joyce published her first book, Then and Now Quilts, with
Kansas City Star in July 2014. Her second book is forthcoming.
