Every quilter is different and has personal reasons for making quilts. It may be an attraction to the fabric, the geometry, the history, the process, or the result, but in any case there are many options. This class provides a path for just simply messing about with scrap fabrics and not knowing where you are going to end up. Using your imagination…it’s all about enjoying the creative process and play. Bring to class some of your favorite scrappy colors and also any UFO blocks you are willing to cut up and incorporate into a wonky design. I like using batiks, as well as popular modern fabrics together. We can share and trade scraps to make it more fun.

"A Trunk Show Folk Art and Primitive Style"
by Betty Anderson

Business meeting at 10:00 AM
Program at 11:00 AM

Like so many of us, Betty grew up surrounded by a rich tradition of handwork, crafts and family quilts.
She rented a Grange building in Clackamas and with the help of her family ran The Quilting B for 10 years. Her love of folk art and primitive style emerged over those years and she went on to become a favorite teacher at Pioneer Quilts and Quilters Corner. Today she teaches in her studio at home.

Workshop: Folk Art Needle Case
Cost: $25 Members / $35 Non-Members

In this “all by hand” workshop, expand your knowledge of embroidery stitches as you construct
a colorful, folk art-style needle case with pages for your special needles. You’ll stitch circles or
leaves on the outside of your case and then proceed to “fancy it up.” Betty will demonstrate many
creative stitches, as well as how to use beads, buttons or special shiny threads to add decorative
touches to this project and others in your future. It’s as much fun as it is useful.

Complete Kits are available for purchase from Betty for $7 (See Supply List 1)
or you can bring your own supplies (See Supply List 2).
